Three easy outfit formulas for your first days on campus
You don't need a huge wardrobe to make S-Town merch work. These three formulas cover different weather and vibe options.
Formula 1: Classic hoodie and jeans
Pair the S-Town Classic Logo Hoodie with straight-leg jeans and white sneakers. This is the most comfortable option for air-conditioned lecture halls and outdoor tours. The kangaroo pocket holds your phone, ID, and a snack.
- What you'll need: S-Town hoodie, straight-leg jeans, white sneakers.
- Best for: 8 a.m. session through the 3 p.m. campus tour.
- Price range: $45-$55 for the centerpiece.
Formula 2: Tee and plaid overshirt
Throw the John B. Quote Tee under a flannel or a lightweight overshirt. Keep the overshirt unbuttoned. This adds layering options if the weather changes, and it looks intentionally styled rather than thrown together.
- What you'll need: Quote tee, flannel, jeans or shorts.
- Best for: Days with unpredictable sun and wind.
- Price range: $28-$32 for the tee.
Formula 3: Button-down with an S-Town tee
For meet-and-greets with professors or your resident advisor, layer the tee under a button-down shirt. Leave the top two buttons open. You'll read as put-together but still approachable.
- What you'll need: Quote tee, button-down, chinos.
- Best for: Information sessions and campus networking.
- Price range: Add the $28 tee to a shirt you already own.
All three formulas work with the unisex fit of our tees. If you're between sizes, I recommend sizing down for a more fitted look - the cotton will stretch slightly with wear.
A common mistake I've seen freshmen make is wearing a brand-new white S-Town tee on move-in day. By the time they've hauled a box up three flights of stairs, it's wrinkled and damp. Stick with darker colors or the hoodie for heavy-lifting days.
